Biography

Professional background.

Lasha Kalandadze is the Managing Partner of Metric Law/Tax, which he founded in 2017 following a judicial career of over a decade.

Lasha Kalandadze previously served as an appellate judge, Chairman of the Civil Law Chamber of the Tbilisi Court of Appeals, member of the High Council of Justice of Georgia, and Chairman of the Disciplinary Board of Georgian Judges.

A leading expert in commercial, corporate, and banking law, Lasha Kalandadze has played a pivotal role in developing legal frameworks for Georgia, advising on sophisticated international trade contracts, corporate governance, and cross-border regulatory strategies.

Lasha Kalandadze specializes in drafting comprehensive legal opinions for domestic and international court cases and arbitration proceedings, providing expert written analyses that parties submit as critical evidence. When required, he is called upon to appear as an expert witness, explaining and substantiating his detailed legal assessments before judicial panels and arbitration tribunals.

Lasha Kalandadze is an accredited mediator, certified by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) in London, and has been instrumental in introducing mediation as a recognized dispute resolution mechanism within the Georgian legal system.

Since 2023, Lasha Kalandadze has served as Special Counsel at Law Solicitors in London, extending Metric Law/Tax’s international presence in the UK market. His international experience encompasses drafting complex contracts in collaboration with global law firms and providing expert testimony on civil law for leading international legal practices.

Lasha Kalandadze is a lecturer at Ilia State University in Tbilisi and serves on the Education Board of the Georgian Bar Association. He holds an LL.M. from Chicago-Kent College of Law and completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, where he also pursued doctoral studies.
